Uniform
We encourage our children to take pride in their school and their appearance. To this end all pupils are expected to wear the prescribed school uniform, as we believe this is an important element in helping to develop a sense of belonging to Walton Oak. We ask parents to support us in this policy by ensuring that children are sent to school correctly dressed.
From September 2026 a new limit on the number of compulsory branded items of school uniforms for all pupils will begin. Only 3 branded items; sweatshirt/cardigan, polo shirt (N to Yr2), Walton Oak tie (Yr3 -Yr6) and PE t-shirt (R to Yr6) will be compulsory.
Our school uniform is compulsory for all pupils and includes the following:
Nursery
- Branded V neck sweatshirt OR cardigan
- Branded White polo shirt
- Charcoal grey trousers or shorts
- Charcoal grey pinafore or skirt
- Black school shoes (preferably Velcro)
- Charcoal grey socks or tights
- Purple gingham summer dress (from beginning of Summer term till October half term)
- (Summer) white socks
- Optional: Branded purple book bag
- Water bottle
- Waterproof coat
Reception, Years 1 & 2
- Branded V neck sweatshirt OR cardigan
- Branded White polo shirt
- Charcoal grey trousers or shorts
- Charcoal grey pinafore or skirt
- Black school shoes
- Charcoal grey socks or tights
- Purple gingham summer dress (from beginning of Summer term till October half term)
- (Summer) white socks
- Optional: Branded purple book bag
- Branded White PE shirt
- Purple PE shorts. These must be loose fitting not tight like gym or cycle shorts (available in uniform shop)
- White sports socks
- Black joggers for outdoor PE during cold weather
- Black Fleece/sweatshirt for PE
- Trainers for PE
- Water bottle
- Waterproof coat
Years 3, 4, 5 & 6
- White collared shirt
- Branded Walton Oak tie
- Branded V neck sweatshirt OR cardigan
- Charcoal grey trousers or shorts
- Charcoal grey pinafore or skirt
- Black school shoes
- Charcoal grey socks or tights
- Purple gingham summer dress (from beginning of Summer term till October half term)
- (Summer) white Socks
- Optional: Branded purple book bag OR branded purple backpack (also could use own back pack as long as it is not too big)
- Branded White PE shirt
- Purple PE shorts. These must be loose fitting not tight like gym or cycle shorts (available lin uniform shop)
- White sports socks
- Black joggers for outdoor PE during cold weather
- Black fleece/sweatshirt for PE
- Trainers for PE
- Water bottle
- Waterproof coat
Shoes
Black school shoes must be worn. These should be sensible school shoes with Velcro, buckle or laces (Not trainers, sandals, ballerina/dolly shoes). Children are welcome to wear boots to walk to and from school and at playtimes. They must change into school shoes inside the building.
Please note:
Long hair (girls and boys) must be tied up at all times.
Hairbands should be small and plain in the neutral colours of white, black, brown, beige and purple only.
Decorative and large accessories such as bows and long ribbons are not appropriate for school as they serve no functional purpose.
All school uniform should be clearly marked with his/her name.
One pair of small, plain stud earrings are permitted but must be removed for PE.
Make up; nail polish and extreme hairstyles (e.g. shapes shaved into short hair or coloured hair) are not permitted.
